Oil prices drop as European debt worries mount

Oil prices were lower on Wednesday following a broad sell-off on Wall Street that was stoked by fears that Europe would be overwhelmed by a mountain of debt.


Here's how energy contracts traded:


On the New York Mercantile Exchange:


Crude fell $1.06 to end the day at $95.74 per barrel.


Gasoline lost 6.22 cents to finish at $2.6442 per gallon.


Heating oil fell 1.75 cents to end at $3.0986 per gallon.


Natural gas fell 9.3 cents to finish at $3.652 per 1,000 cubic feet.


On the ICE Futures exchange in London:


Brent crude lost $2.69 to end the day at $112.31 per barrel.
